Ten inch pile height Vegetable-dyed colors for vibrant hues Hand-woven in Herat, Afghanistan by the Balouchi tribes Weavers use warp and weft strands to create patterns. This Soumak Kilim is made in the Northwestern part of Afghanistan, in the province of Herat, by the Balouchi tribes in the village of Mushwani. The warp strands are used as the foundation and the weft strands are used as both part of the foundation and in creating the patterns. The weft strands are simply passed through the warp strands.
